building a canopy

Postby Duster » Fri Dec 25, 2009 1:01 pm

I'm about to start building a canopy for my tank so I can put my new light in it. right now my 4-bulb T5 fixture is propped up on top of my overflow, my return pipe, and a plastic spray paint can lid. lol
I'm going to build a "frame" out of plain pine 2x's, then cover it with oak stained to match the stand. what I was wondering is what should I paint the inside of the canopy with that will repel water, and be safe for my aquarium? I thought about just using black latex house paint. think that will work? or have any ideas let me know! thanks :D

White would be better, it will reflect the light back in the tank better. I use oil based and latex paints with out any problems.

good idea. I'll pick up some white latex tomorrow. I just thought black because I have some left over black already. but using white does make more sense. thanks 8)
