I came home Tuesday to find my house 50 degrees so I was glad that I had heaters in my tanks keeping them up to temp. Might want to rethink that my house is warm no need for heaters.

Yup... Came home one day and the living room window was left open. It was 52 and the tank was at 74. Now I have large heaters in the tank set at 77-78 and one smaller one (150W) in my sumps set at 76. Hasn't got below 76.2 since. Just a thought.

My house is sitting at 50 right now as well. I have an older heat pump and it just doesn't work very well when the temp gets below 20. Glad to have a heater in my tank. At least the fish are warm. I'm sitting here typing this wearing my arctic gear.

Havent you ALSO melted your tank with heaters?

LOL anyway... in shipping, corals often "catch a chill" (like low 50s) but recover nicely depending upon species

They NEVER survive heat spikes

I do have a heater heck ya its 800 watts LOL but I run it with a Thermostat... OH and then a controller backup so that when that thermostat tries to melt everything the power is automaically shut off preventing an unexpected melt

Like I said your coral with handle cold well but not heat
